romain mutel portraitOf the nine universities that I considered, Groupe Sup de Co La Rochelle offered the largest diversity of experiences, right from the start of the first year. The option of lessons in English was particularly appealing to me. The fact that it is possible to have two international experiences starting in Year 1, coupled with the richness of the Student Clubs and Associations were two further reasons for my choosing the programme. And today, I don’t regret for one moment the choice I made. During the programme, I was fortunate to carry out my first internship in Dublin working in the marketing department of a market leader in telecommunications. Following this, I spent two months in Finland working for Emmaus where I helped to deal with providing furniture to those in need. Very quickly, a level of trust was established enabling me to experience various sectors of this organisation and to take on responsibilities.

Professional experience within an association

In harmony with the above experiences, I spent two years as a member of Well’Com. The role of this association is to look after the Group’s communications, be it for an internal event or for provision of student services. During the second year, with two other students, I headed up the digital section of Well’Com, which comprises some fourteen members. For the entire period, I also took on the role of ‘welcome guide’ which entailed assisting in welcoming students who were undertaking the Group’s entrance tests. My involvement in this type of association, which mirrors that of a company, allowed me have a better understanding of the world of work. I gained a lot of experience which certainly added value to my professional development.

Work-study track in Year 3

Thanks to the knowledge acquired during my first two years, I will be able to select a work-study track for the third year of this programme. I am going to be working for the group Saint-Gobain, dealing with the digitalisation of the business. To top it all, as this position has just been created by the company, there is a strong possibility of a job at the end. I am delighted to have chosen the work-study option within my Sales and Marketing specialisation… a specialisation that will enable me to be fully prepared for a large range of careers.
